Softball 2009

The Long Beach State softball team reached familiar heights last season as the team made its 19th appearance in the NCAA Championship Tournament. Unfortunately, the 49ers were placed in the very tough Los Angeles Regional, and were eliminated on the second day by No. 25 Fresno State. The team ended the season at 35 – 21, good enough for a top 50 RPI.
This season optimism runs high as Head coach Kim Sowder has a solid team returning, and adds some outstanding freshman and transfers to her roster.
Once again great things are expected from this program; and as usual, it should be a fun ride all the way to the program’s 20th appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
