Bruins spank the 49ers
Long Beach State women’s soccer loses 4-1 to the UCLA Bruins.
The most anticipated home soccer match in the women’s soccer program’s history is now in the books. The problem with the story… well, a Bruin must have written, edited, and published the darn thing.
The Long Beach State 49ers (1-1-0) were on their heels the entire evening as the 7th ranked UCLA Bruins (1-1-1) manhandled their way to a 4-0 victory. From the onset the lady Bruins controlled both the ball and the tempo limiting the young 49ers opportunities. The Bruins out shot the Beach 19-7, while scoring during the 21st, 45th, 68th, and 88th minute.
Head coach Mauricio Ingrassia summed up his team’s poor performance this way, “We didn’t give it our best effort. We were out to lunch and paid for it.”
Now the 49ers will embark on a very difficult road trip beginning on September 5 when they face the Kansas Jayhawks. The team will then square off against No.11 Missouri, Harvard, and then close the trip against No. 8 Boston College.
