The Long Beach State women’s soccer team roll over the Pepperdine Waves

The Long Beach State women’s soccer team dominated the Pepperdine Waves cruising to a 3-1 victory before 921 fans at George Allen Field.

The lady 49ers did all of their scoring in the first half with goals coming from Nicole Sweetman, Lindsay Bullock, and Shannon Bullock.

The highlight of the match came in the final minute of the first half when the Bullock sisters teamed up for Long Beach State’s 3rd goal.  Lindsay lobbed a beautiful ball over the top of the Pepperdine defense, right in front of her younger sister Shannon.  With the goalie closing fast, Shannon chipped the ball over the top and into the net.  This was Shannon’s first career goal as a 49ers.

“It was just amazing, Shannon stated.  “ She got it in the air for me and I just chipped it over… I actually didn’t know I scored until everyone was going crazy and jumping on me.”

The 49ers will now travel down the 405 to take on San Diego State this Sunday (20th) at noon.  The Aztecs are 4-3-2 with a tie against Harvard, a team Long Beach State defeated earlier in the season 2-0.
