After a disappointing loss in their conference opener, the Long Beach State women’s soccer team was looking for some offensive firepower and Shawna Gordon did not disappoint.
The sophomore midfielder connected on two throw ins, from the acrobatic Chantel Hubbard, to put The Beach out front early as they hold on for a 2-1 victory over UC Davis.
“It is always important to win… we needed a little confidence,” said Gordon. “We were getting down a little. We put lots of thing together [today]”.
The 49ers extend their home stand as they face No. 25 University of San Diego. The team will be without the services of Nicole Sweetman since she must serve a one game suspension for being red carded late in the second half.
