Before an energetic crowd, the women’s tennis team from Long Beach State gave top 25 Washington a run for their money. Deborah Armstrong pulled out two victories, singles and doubles, while Jackie Alawi, Rachel Manasee, and Sarah Cantley all played well in the 6-1 loss.

Long Beach, Calif. – Deborah Armstrong picked up a singles victory for Long Beach State, but was the lone point as the 49ers fell to No. 18 Washington 6-1 on Sunday.
Deborah Armstrong was the big winner in the day, defeating Lina Xu at No. 3 singles in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 to get Long Beach State on the board.
Armstrong also grabbed a win in doubles, as she teamed with Anais Dallara to defeat Chan/Smith in a 9-8 thriller at No. 2 doubles. The 49ers were unable to take the point, as the team lost 9-7 at both No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
